Opsmate

Configuring a Retention Policy

By default, Opsmate keeps your backups forever (until you delete them), but you can configure Opsmate to automatically prune old snapshots:

  1. Log into your Opsmate account and go to the config page.
  2. Select the server whose retention policy you want to configure.
  3. Choose "Prune old backups" from the "Retention policy" list.
  4. Enter the number of hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and weekly snapshots you would like to keep.
    • To keep none, enter 0.
    • To keep an unlimited number, leave the box blank.

Opsmate automatically tags your snapshots as hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly when they're created. Snapshots that you create manually will never be automatically deleted.

There is no limit to the number of snapshots you can keep, as long as you stay below your account's storage limit. Since snapshots are incremental and store only changed data, snapshots often take very little space.

Snapshots are pruned daily betwen 09:00 and 10:00 UTC.
